Article 45Entry into force
This Directive shall enter into force on the twentieth day following that of its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union.

The Directive entered into force on the twentieth day after its publication in the Official Journal, which was 16 January 2023.
Entry into force is not the date obligations reach entities. Other articles set separate dates: transposition by 17 October 2024 and application of national measures from 18 October 2024 (Article 41); Member States’ lists of essential and important entities by 17 April 2025 (Article 3(3)); and the 17 January 2025 information submission for the entity types in Article 27(1). The dates from which an entity is bound come from the national law of its Member State.
